Healthy Estrogen Balance
I3C is indole-3-carbinol, a nutrient that is present in cruciferous vegetables
such as broccoli and brussels sprouts. I3C is a nutrient,
that supports a healthy balance of estrogen metabolism. There are two
forms of estrogen metabolites: the bad estrogens which promote the
development of free radical damage, and the good estrogens which are
harmless. I3C reduces the
formation of the former while increasing production of the latter.
Reducing Oxidative Damage
It
blocks the activation of genes that contribute to free radical damage.
I3C and DIM
I3C is one of the most effective compounds in cruciferous
vegetables. Some studies suggest that DIM, a condensation product of
I3C is also effective. The molecules are very closely related and research
suggests they provide the same estrogen balancing effects. I3C is
supported by a large number of studies, and has been shown to be
effective in both cellular studies and human trials, and provides an extra
weapon in the fight against free radical damage.
