Shiny, Happy Hair!

  • Nature's Source

Many people think that hair care starts with shampooing. Not so! It starts with what you eat. In general, a healthy diet of whole foods - whole grains, legumes, fruits, vegetables, nuts, seeds, sufficient protein and lots of water is needed.

What’s Hair Made Of?

Hair contains all the vitamins, minerals and other nutrients the body needs for health. That’s why diet is so important for the condition of your hair. It’s about 97% protein, which is the building block for strong hair.

Are You Losing It?

Hair loss (alopecia) is becoming increasingly common today, even among women. To prevent hair loss, nutrients such as Vitamin C, PABA, Biotin, L-Cysteine and Glutathione can assist by preventing hair follicles from clogging.

Essential oils are known for their therapeutic properties in hair care. Some essential oils have resulted in much success against alopecia; however, they are not likely to cure baldness. And, if you’ve never used a specific essential oil, it may be wise to do a skin patch test to test for an allergic reaction, before using it on your hair.

To help with hair loss, you can use a mild, natural shampoo (100ml) mixed with the following oils:

  • 15 drops of jojoba oil
  • 8 drops of carrot oil
  • 7 drops of rosemary oil
  • 7 drops of lavender oil
  • 2 drops of tea tree oil

Simple Treatments for Different Hair Conditions:

  • Oily hair - Massage ground cucumber or watermelon into shampooed hair and leave on your scalp for 15 minutes before rinsing
  • Dry hair - Massage mashed avocado into shampooed hair and leave on for 15 minutes before rinsing.
  • Normal hair - Massage mashed peaches into wet hair for 15 minutes before rinsing.
  • Shine and volume-boosting - Combine 1 tablespoon of apple cider vinegar and 2 cups warm water in a bowl. Pour mixture over shampooed hair. This rinse will restore the natural balance of your hair and add shine and softness.
