About St. Francis Herb Farm
We are herbalists. But not your average herbalists. We are multigenerational herbal artisans who have spent 30+ years researching and cultivating our knowledge and trade. We are obsessed with herbs and the wisdom they unlock in our bodies, allowing us to be healed and nourished naturally. We believe that the whole plant is special and that there is a unique way of getting the best out of it. That is why we created our Holistic Herb Approach™, which customizes our method to each plant. We would never give you something we would not give our own family. For over 30 years, our family has been driven by a passion for cultivating and extracting the finest quality herbs available, so that you can feel the difference of well-made plant medicine.
Key Benefits of St. Francis Herb Farm
As multi-generational herbal artisans, our experience and respect for traditional herbalism has taught us that the wisdom of nature, and of plant medicine, cannot and should not be isolated to just one part of the plant. Each herb has a part that provides us with the most benefit for a particular issue. For some it’s the leaves, for some it’s the roots, and for some it’s the flowers. Further, there is a unique way to harness the power of most medicinal parts so that we feel the most benefit. That is why we created and perfected our Holistic-Herb™ Approach, to get the most out of nature so that you can feel your best.
It All Starts With a Well Grown Herb!
Organic Farming – Organic farming is much more than just banning the use of pesticides and synthetic fertilizers.Rather, it is a holistic approach to growing the plants that looks at elements such as sustainability, soil fertility, and biological diversity. In addition to our organic farm in Barry’s Bay, we work with local Canadian organic farmers, so that our products start out with accessing the best herb possible.
Decades of Wisdom Have Taught Us What to Do With Those Herbs
Craft – Some herbs extract better when brought in fresh from the field, some herbs extract better when dried. There are many variables that are part of our processes, and we accommodate for each herb, taking into account factors like temperature control, length of maceration, and methods of extraction, to name a few. When it is time for a herb to be extracted, we set up our entire operation to best suit the needs of that herb. It is a craft that we have perfected through ongoing reference to traditional herbal texts and decades of experience.
Science is Used to Optimize the Process
Science – Analytical testing allows us to take our farming practices and craft and to validate that they are in fact coming together as they should, given that we intend to give you the best herbal product possible.Indeed, we have an ongoing partnership with the Biopharmaceutical Department of the University of Ottawa to assess these variables and ensure processes that result in an optimal extract.
At St. Francis Herbs Farm we are obsessed with quality. All our products undergo third party, rigorous testing. We also work with Health Canada to ensure our products align with the NPN claims, which are approved by their governing body.

Frequently Asked Questions About St. Francis Herb Farm
Why is There Alcohol in Your Tinctures?
A medicinal herb consumed raw is typically hard for the body to assimilate. That’s why we have tinctures. For centuries, both water and alcohol have been necessary when it comes to unlocking all the active ingredients of a raw herb and making them fully bioavailable. A solution of water alone is not enough. In addition, alcohol stabilizes a herb and acts as a preservative. If, however, you want to remove the alcohol in a tincture, simply bring some water to a boil. Take the boiling water off the stove, add your dose of tincture, and let the water sit for ten minutes or so. This will evaporate most of the alcohol.
If Your Products Only Have Dosages Listed for Adults, Can I Give Them to My Children?
If we do not have a dosage listed for your child’s age, we do not recommend giving the product to your child without first consulting with your Healthcare Practitioner or Naturopathic Doctor.
Are Your Products Canadian?
We have been proudly Canadian for over 30 years! All our tinctures and capsules are made in Canada with herbs that are sourced from Canada where possible and globally for those that are not native to Canada.
Can I Take Deep Immune if I Am Already Sick?
If you are sick, we recommend stopping Deep Immune and switching to one of our Cough + Cold products such as Virafect or Echinacea 2+ (formerly EchinAce). For children, you can switch to Echinacea 2+ Kids. Once you are well again, you can resume using Deep Immune.
Can I Take Deep Immune While Pregnant or Breastfeeding?
We do not recommend taking Deep Immune while pregnant or breastfeeding. Instead, you might try Echinacea 2+ (formerly EchinAce), which is safe for pregnant and breastfeeding mothers.
Can I Take More Than One Product at the Same Time, Like Deep Immune and St. Francis Herb Farm?
As long as the contraindications and cautions for each of the products do not apply to you, you can take Deep Immune and Stress at the same time.
