by Nature's Source 30 Aug 2022

Detoxification of your body through bathing is an ancient remedy that everyone can partake, inthe comfort of their own home. The term “detox bath” is a modern buzzword in the health-conscious community. Your skin acts as the third kidney where toxins are excreted through sweating. A detox bath assists your body in eliminating toxins, absorbing minerals and nutrients that are in the water. Immediately after, you feel rejuvenated!

You want to allow one-hour timeslot when you take your bath. The first 20 minutes are used to help your body remove toxins, the following 20 minutes are for absorbing the minerals in the water and the last 20 minutes are for resting.

Below are simple steps and ingredients you will need as you fill your tub with comfortably hot water:

Add 1- 2 cups Epsom salts (magnesium sulfate)

Soaking in Epsom salts replenish the body’s magnesium reserves. The sulfate flushes toxins away and helps form proteins in brain tissue and joints. It calms the nervous system, relaxes muscles, reduces swelling, improves oxygen, boosts circulation and eases hypertension.

Epsom salts bath has long been used for relief in rheumatism, diabetes, gout, skin disease and also helps in losing weight. They are inexpensive and can be bought here at Nature’s Source.

Add 1 TBS – 1/3 cup ground ginger

This step is optional. Ginger can increase your heat levels, helping to sweat out toxins. Since it does heat your body it may cause your skin to turn slightly red for a few minutes so be careful the amount you add into your bath.

Add 20 drops aromatherapy oil

This step is also optional. Aromatherapy have many therapeutic properties that many can take advantage of while sitting in a bath. Lavender or ylang ylang can make your bath very relaxing and pleasant.  You may want to rather use tea tree or eucalyptus essential oil to assist in detoxification process.

Drink plenty of water

Before, during and after your bath, drink sufficient water as you will be sweating and need to re-hydrate. Also, you do not want to feel lightheaded or tired.

After the bath, rub down your body with a loofah or bamboo bristle brush

Use long, gentle sweeping strokes, brushing towards the heart. This will stimulate the lymphatic system, helping to further release toxins out.

Breathe in. Breathe out. Rest.
