Curcumin and Boswellia Relieve Inflammatory Pain

  • Nature's Source

Two proven botanicals that do the job. These days, pain and inflammation frequently keep us from comfortably performing everyday activities. It could be as simple as bending over to pick up something we dropped or undertaking an exercise program or lifting something at work. Personally, I am always trying to push to my body’s limits so I know all too well the pain and inflammation my body generates. I try to lift the heaviest weights possible, have competed in bodybuilding shows and powerlifting meets and also do heavy physical labour.
When I first tried curcumin, sometimes in combination with boswellia, they combined to provide immediate alleviation of pain without the harmful side effects that pharmaceutical medicaments inflict.

Curcumin

High-bioavailability curcumin extracts may be the remedy of choice for pain. It has proved superior to arthritis drugs without adverse effects, decreased joint pain in osteoarthritis subjects, and reduced markers of inflammation. Curcumin protects joint cartilage by reducing inflammation, inhibiting inflammatory cell growth, and inhibiting cartilage-destroying enzymes.
Curcumin has also been explored for other inflammatory diseases. It inhibits inflammatory cytokines in colon cancer victims, and reduces obesity associated inflammation. A soy isoflavones and curcumin combination has been shown to significantly reduce prostate specific antigen (PSA) and inflammation in men. Curcumin represents an effective and safe modality for pain management.

Boswellia

Boswellia also exhibits significant anti-inflammatory properties and treats pain without side-effects. In one study, boswellia reduced the pain index by 90 percent. Asthmatics showed improvements in symptoms and lung function plus fewer allergic blood cells. Nearly 70 percent of ulcerative colitis patients went into remission with boswellia, compared to only 40 percent on standard meds. Osteoarthritis patients showed superior benefits from a combination of curcumin and boswellia compared to Celebrex.
The connection between good nutrition and health is undeniable. Many food nutrients also safely reduce pain. With so many people affected pain management is a major public health issue and a tremendous burden on healthcare. Natural anti-inflammatory foods and supplements not only help relieve pain, but may also prevent and/or heal the underlying conditions.
