Reflexology
What is Reflexology?
Reflexology is the art of massage and stimulations of various parts of the feet for relaxation and to treat disease. According to reflexology charts, your body is represented on the soles of the feet, roughly from the brain to the knees, going from the toes to the heels. As well, there are reflex points related to other parts of the body located on the top of the feet and the Achillies tendon.

How does it work?
It is based on the accumulated knowledge that certain reflex areas in our feet correspond to every part of our body, including organs and glands.

There are thousands of nerve endings terminating at our feet. Finger pressure is applied to the nerve endings that send eletrical impulses up the nervous system in our legs to the spinal cord and then to the nervous system extending away from the spinal cord to all organs, glands, and part of our body.

What does it do?
Reflexology does four things remarkably well:
  • Release tension in the body
  • Improve blood circulation
  • Soothe the nervous system
  • Promote normal functioning of the body
What can I expect during a treatment?
The client is asked to take off his or her socks or stocking, and shoes. The client lies down on the treatment table and the room is quiet. The reflexologist works on the pressure points of the client's feet. After the stimulation of the reflex area, the client lies quietly on the table for a few minutes so that the effects of the reflexology treatment can be fully felt and enjoyed. The first treatment includes an assessment.

A Word About Stress
Stress activates the sympathetic part of the nervous system. The sympathetic system releases hormones and chemicals related to fight or flight. The results are increased heart rate and blood pressure, contracted muscles, and rapid and shallow breathing. On the other hand, the parasympathetic system releases hormones and chemicals related to calm and quiet. The results are normal heart rate and blood pressure, relaxed muscles, and deeper breathing.

Unbalanced stress is the primary cause of ill-health in our culture. Some medical evidence suggest eighty percent of illnesses are stress-related.

In my estimation, the primary benefit of receiving a reflexology treatment is the experience of profound relaxation. This is when true healing occurs.

My mission is to help others improve their health.
